Namecheap Shared Hosting Review: 7 Pros & 6 Cons

I can tell you a lot of things about all the Namecheap shared hosting plans because I have a long-term relationship with them.

Yes, I run six of my blogs on Namecheap and have already helped over  40 clients host their sites on the shared hosting plans of Namecheap.

But don’t think that I’ll just tell you all the sweet words about the hosting plans.

You’ll hear a lot of negative words about them too.

So, without any further ado, let me share with you my experience with Namecheap.

Namecheap Shared Hosting Review

An updateNamecheap has recently changed the names of all of their hosting packs. So, you might have some confusions because of their different names.

In addition, Namecheap hosting now sells three shared hosting packs instead of four. You’ll see some price variations too.

Here are the names of the packs –

  1. Namecheap Stellar (Earlier Namecheap Value 4G)
  2. Namecheap Stellar Plus (Earlier Namecheap Professional)
  3. Namecheap Stellar Business (Earlier Namecheap Business SSD)

The shared hosting pack, Namecheap Ultimate, is no longer available now.

5 Reasons for NOT Using Namecheap Shared Hosting!

I’m starting with the downsides of the shared hosting plan of Namecheap because learning about this will help you decide whether to use their hosting services or not.

#1. No Free Domain

None of the shared hosting packs provides a free domain for the first year of purchase where most hosting companies offer a free domain registration facility.

#2. No Free SSL Certificate

Now, installing an SSL certificate on your blog is quite necessary, but you won’t get any free SSL certificates with any of the plans.

#3. No Unlimited Storage Capacity

Namecheap doesn’t provide unlimited space with two of its shared hosting packs.

The storage of the Stellar pack is 20 GB (SSD-accelerated) and you’ll get an unlimited amount of accelerated disk space in the Stellar Plus pack.

And the best shared hosting pack of the company, the Stellar Business, provides you with 50 GB of pure SSD.

Though I’ve already told you that nothing is unlimited, many of you just love to hear that your hosting comes with unlimited storage.

Remember again! Unlimited is a marketing term.

#4. Not All the Packs Provide Pure SSD

I’ve already suggested you use a pure SSD and this is one of the 17 factors to consider when choosing a hosting company.

Why is that? Well, a pure SSD is much faster than an accelerated SSD.

But the first two shared hosting packs of Namecheap, the Stellar and the Stellar Plus, come with accelerated SSDs.

#5. Very Short Money-Back Guarantee Period

Namecheap is very stingy in providing a long money-back period. The hosting company offers a 14-day period for the money back guarantee duration.

You see that most companies offer at least 30 days for the same purpose.

#6. Not Renowned as a Hosting Company

Namecheap is very renowned when you consider it as a domain registrar, but its fame isn’t that much when it comes to providing hosting services.

You might feel mean whenever you’ll name your hosting provider’s name. This happened to me several times! When I told people about my hosting’s name, they asked one common question, does Namecheap provide hosting services?

7 Reasons You Should Use Namecheap Shared Hosting Plan

And now I’ll show you some solid reasons for using the shared hosting plan of Namecheap.

#1. Very cheap

The hosting price of Namecheap shared hosting is cheap like chips!

The regular monthly price of the Stellar plan of Namecheap is $2.88 where the regular price of the Stellar Plus hosting pack of Namecheap is $4.88 per month.

The monthly price is $8.88 only if you buy the Stellar Business plan on a monthly basis.

#2. Monthly buying option

You see that all the hosting plans can be purchased on a monthly basis. If you’re on a tight budget or you just test them, then this option is very promising.

#3. Whopping discount

Namecheap has also arranged whopping discounts on all the shared hosting packs when you buy them on a yearly basis.

Currently, they’re giving up to 28% discount when the purchasing duration becomes one year.

All the renewal prices of Namecheap don’t offer any discount.

#4. Unmetered bandwidth

Though this is a marketing term too, you get unmetered bandwidth with all the hosting packs. I think that you’re very happy to hear this.

This doesn’t mean that you can drive as much traffic to your site as you want because, after a certain level of traffic, you need to upgrade your hosting plan.

One thing is sure that you can never break the bandwidth of your hosting plan when you’re just starting out.

#5. Availability of cPanel

Namecheap provides cPanel as the control panel. This control panel comes with all the shared hosting packs too.

Even the Namecheap Stellar hosting pack has cPanel with it.

#6. Availability of Softaculous

You don’t have to worry about the 1-click installer of the shared hosting packs of Namecheap because the hosting company provides Softaculous.

#7. Very Responsive Support Team

Namecheap’s support system is very smart and for this, you can rely on them. The company claims that it provides 24/7 support for their customers.

The quickest option to contact the support team of Namecheap is the Live Chat option. It takes a few minutes to establish a connection with a support staff.

The Submit a Ticket option is for letting the company know those types of questions and problems that you think aren’t that urgent to get the replies.

They also provide fresh news and knowledge base which can provide you with updated news on a regular basis.

I’ve personally tested all the methods of contact and there’s nothing wrong with them. In fact, the live support is very (very) responsive and can solve your problems within the shortest possible time.

Verdict

So, you have come to learn about all the three shared hosting packs of Namecheap.

Now let’s check all the cons of the hosting plans again.

Should Namecheap provide a free domain for the first year of purchase? There’s no option because the price is too cheap that can’t provide a free domain with each of the hosting packs.

Not providing any free SSL certificate isn’t a crime because many hosting companies do the same. In addition, you’ll get a whopping discount on Positive SSL for the first year of purchase.

If you dislike them because of not providing unlimited space, then the second hosting pack named the Stellar Plus can solve this problem.

And not providing pure SSD is a bad thing and to solve this, you need to use the best shared hosting plan which also costs very little.

It’s true that Namecheap isn’t as famous in the hosting industry as they’re as a domain registrar, but it all depends on you.

If you’re so much concerned about what people will tell you when they’ll hear about your hosting’s name, then you shouldn’t use Namecheap.

In fact, Namecheap didn’t start as a hosting company and for this, the brand doesn’t suit as a hosting provider. This doesn’t mean that they won’t be a good hosting provider.

From my 3+ years of experience has already proved that they’re very serious about providing hosting services too.

Over to you

So, what do you think about the Namecheap shared hosting packs?

I’m asking this to you because you can take the ultimate decision whether to use any of the hosting packs or not.

This is an unbiased review still, you should check them again before using any of the packs.
